What a perfect Pacific Northwest day … Mt. Rainier was out in her glory – so majestic! We headed out from University Village in Seattle toward Union Bay Natural area which is considered one of the best bird watching sites. The area features several ponds, beautiful vegetation, a variety of waterfowl, turtles, and birds. We did spot blue heron in the distance. If you go, take a pair of binoculars for bird-watching purposes.
Lake Washington was beautiful with Mt. Rainier in the distance. Continuing around Husky Stadium, we headed toward the main campus of the University of Washington. Wandering through the campus and continuing through the Quad the flowering cherry trees were spectacular! The Quad is the main quadrangle at the University. Unfortunately, Drumheller Fountain was under construction. We then headed back to University Village.
A great day … thanks to Steve Johnson for the hike information!
